Our New-Look Courses Begin!

It's October 2024, we are two weeks into teaching, and the Geography and Environment community is back for a new academic year with some exciting new-look degrees!

This year our refreshed BA/BSc (Hons) Geography degree has begin. It provides an innovative and flexible approach to Geography that allows you to choose your exit award while you study with us. Our students have arrived and it has been fantastic to meet them- they spent induction week exploring both human and physical aspects of the Geography of Sheffield, and are already bonding and forming a tight-knit community!

September 2024 also sees the start of our brand new BSc (Hons) Climate, Sustainability and Environmental Management degree. This course delivers critical education that directly responds to the growing need for green skills for net zero and a more sustainable future. It has been fantastic to meet our first cohort of students- their passion and dedication shines through, and we've already been exploring environmental management issues in the Peak District on our welcome walk at Padley Gorge.

And it may only be two weeks into term, but our community has already been out and about supporting local organisations- today over 40 staff and student volunteers, many from our Geography and Environment community, worked together on a Nature Recovery Day with Moors for the Future to plant over four thousand moss plugs on Peak District moorland- this work will help restore a degraded upland habitat and make it more resilient in the face of climate change.

We can't wait to see what the 2024/25 academic year will bring- to follow our community activities, follow us on Instagram @shugeogenv.
